Biography
Amuro Namie is a Japanese Pop singer and was born on September 20, 1977.
She was born in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan.
Namie used to be part of a quintet, but now is a solo singer.
A man named Masayuki Makino, who was the president of Okinawa's Actors School, found Amuro Namie and placed her in the quintet, Super Monkeys.
This is how she became famous. She was in this group from 1992 to 1994.
Super Monkeys faced many difficulties, though. Many of the members joined and left and many times the name of the quintet changed as well.
Amuro Namie soon became a solo singer and became very successful selling consecutive #1 singles.
From November 39, 2003 to May 15, 2004 she performed in Seoul, South Korea and Taipei, Taiwan.
She has a son named Haruto and has a tattoo of his name on her left arm.
She is also the fifteenth biggest selling artist in all of Japan music history.
Her most recent single, Baby Don't Cry, debuted at #3.
Amuro Namie will be having another tour this summer, and will be performing 50 shows nationwide.
Her newest single, FUNKY TOWN, will be coming out in April 4th, 2007.
Other than singing, Amuro Namie has also been in a few films.
In 1994, Namie was in the film Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.
In 1996 she was in the movie That's Cunning! Shijo Saidai no Sakusen.
In 2000, Amuro Namie was in the film Yonigeya Honpo.
