track and field events. She integrated the town in Clarksville , Tennessee during her homecoming parade and participated in the protests until segregation laws were struck down. The most important contribution was the Wilma Rudolph Foundation, a non-profit organization. In it, free coaching was given to people in sports, and academic assistance and support. In 1977, Wilma published her autobiography and was turned into a movie. The book and movie inspired handicapped people to overcome their problems. The following are interesting quotes:
